Host handbook

Before the night

• Tonight's quiz shows Downloaded to this computer (it must be paid first; download a day or two early on a slow connection).
• Picture on the TV - press Open a test screen here if unsure - and sound tested.
• Answers (PDF) printed, if you like.
• The marker has the scoring link open on a phone or iPad.

Starting

• Press Start the quiz, then Show join QR.
• Teams register; check names and Jokers on the Teams tab.
• Lock registration once everyone is in.
• Special quiz? Switch on Teams answer on their phones and tell the room the rule.

Running the show

• Next (or a clicker's forward button, or the right arrow) moves on; Back goes back. B blanks the screen.
• Sound and video clips play on the next press, one per press.
• Show standings between rounds if you like; S reads out the winners at the end.
• Use Jump to go to any slide.

Marking

• Mark each round as the paper books come in; tap a tile again to undo.
• On a phone night the round closes when the show reaches its answers (say “pens down” first); clear the Needs your check card for the close calls.
• Watch the red Left the answer page list - Allow puts a round back if someone took a call.

Finishing

• Everyone marked; read out the winners.
• Download CSV if you want a copy.
• End quiz - results go to the server and the league, and the quiz is removed from the laptop.
