Plain words about the little we keep.
Last updated 13 October 2026. This explains what the Fact or Fiction Quiz Nights system and this website keep, and why.
This website
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you. Choosing the light or dark theme is remembered in your own browser only. The status check on the support page asks our app if it is running; it sends nothing about you.
Teams and players
- No accounts. You join a night with a team name; we do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- What we keep: the team name, the team's scores and, on a special quiz night, the answers typed during that night. Team names and scores appear on the public league table.
- Why: to run the night, mark it, and keep the league.
Venues and our staff
We keep a venue's name, contact person and sign-in details, and the logins of our own staff and content creators. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed), never in plain text.
Cookies
The app uses a sign-in cookie for venues and staff, and a short-lived cookie that links a team's phone to its team for the night. These are needed for the app to work; there are no advertising cookies.
Looking after it, and your rights
Data is held on our own server. Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove a team name from the league: contact us.
